Curriculum - Saturday

Session 1: Navigating the Journey into Medicine

The course begins with a comprehensive exploration of the medical school application process. Students will gain a clear understanding of how different universities compare, what makes each unique, and how to choose the right medical school for their goals and strengths.

We will also uncover lesser-known routes into medicine in the UK and abroad, broadening your options and increasing your chances of securing a place.

You will then learn how to present your best self in your personal statement, with real examples from successful applicants to show exactly what stands out. The session also includes expert guidance on UCAT preparation and interview technique, equipping you with practical strategies to maximise your chances of success.

Session 2: Thinking and Training Like a Medical Student

In the afternoon, students will work in small-group tutorials and begin to experience life as a medical student. You will learn the fundamentals of patient communication, including history-taking skills and why effective communication is central to excellent medical practice.

The session also includes hands-on training in clinical examination skills, with a focus on core system examinations - giving you an early taste of the practical skills taught at medical school.
